Remembering a simple meal in a Florence Kitchen

        I'm so excited to share a new look at Britalia Way with my page On the Stove. Here I will be posting pictures and shorter stories and have an audio conversation about my favorite foods, flavors and techniques in my kitchen. I hope you enjoy!             
       Above is a picture of the kitchen in the apartment we rented while visiting Florence a few years ago. Each time I see it brings back the lovely memory of cooking a simple meal after a busy day. Being a true romantic I've fantasized about living in Italy for years. For me the opportunity to experience this beautiful Country and explore the regions and get to know the local people was my dream. Cooking and tasting the local foods and feeling a part of the scenery my true passion!
With that in mind we decided to rent an apartment in Florence while on our trip to Italy back in 2014. Below are some of the shops we visited and the local merchants that we shared so many lovely conversations with. Some of the  people couldn't speak English but food lovers alike we talked through gestures and motions that truly captured those heartfelt moments. 

The meal I prepared that evening was simply Pasta with Sausage.. It really was the joy of feeling 'at home" and just like an ordinary day rather than a vacation. I laugh when I say ordinary as nothing is ordinary in Florence rather extraordinary in comparison. From the butcher to the produce markets my excitement grew like a child in a candy store.! ;) Aww yes life is easier the Italian way Live,Laugh and Love!  We hope on our next trip we will be able to stay at this lovely apartment once again.
